3/29
Today in class, Maddie, Demetri, and I presented our project to the whole class. We made a project about the Parthenon. We wrote a paper on it, made a powerpoint on it, made a model, and even made some food dishes that would have been eaten in the Parthenon while symposiums were taking place. I feel we did a very good job on our presentation. But, we weren't the only ones to go today. Two other groups went as well as us. One group did a presentation about horses and another did a presentation on the Greek gods and goddesses. They were both pretty good too. It was a very successful day in the class room.

3/27
Today in class, Mr. Schick was out today because he had a doctors appointment. So today, instead of Mr. Schick we had Mr. Delpupo. He was pretty chill today. He didn't talk much and was doing work while we were doing our projects. Our project is just about finished. We have the Parthenon built, the power point made, and the paper has been written. Now, all we have o do is present first on Friday. We will do great, I know we will. My group is amazing.

3/26
Today in class, we worked on our project a little more and my group got just about everything done. We finished the Parthenon model, finished the one paged paper we had to write as almost like a summary, and we also finished our powerpoint on everything we did. Maddie also made a really cool timelapse of our work. We are looking really good for this project. Demetri is also making greek dishes to give out while we present. The only downside of being so far ahead is that we have to present first... That's the only part I am not looking forward to. But, our group will kill it and we will get a very good grade. I'm very excited about this.

3/25
Today in class, we took a thirty-three question test. It was one of the largest tests we have taken this quarter and its the last test we will take this quarter. I feel like I did really good on this test. But I think my perfect one hundred in this class won't be there much longer. I should have studied a little more than singing before the test. Mr. Schick even gave us time to study. But, oh well. It's in the past and all I can do now is keep whatever grade I'm gonna have and do the best I can.

3/21
Today in class, we finished the powerpoint and then went over it for a second time. We discussed our test and reviewed it for a little bit. We then discussed how the rest of the week is going to go and how next week is going to go. The third quarter is going to end on the 26 so we have to get a good grade on this test or even better on our two hundred point project. We then were given time to do our blogs at the end of class. We were then busy talking about this comic we found on the interwebs. Ig was about the Odyssey. It was pretty funny.

3/20
Today in class, we went over the rest of the power point. We talked about the Peloponnesian war. We talked about both fighting styles of Athens and Sparta. We talked about the phalanx used by both and how Athens had a very strong and powerful navy. They used triremes which were ships with three levels of oars. You could get up to high speeds and ram into enemy ships and severely damage them or even capsize them. Since Greece was surrounded by water this was a big advantage for the ships rolling into Peloponnesus for battle. They could attack while they least expected it.

Project work day one
Today in class, we worked on our project. We went around the art wing asking teachers for materials and tips on our project. We, being Maddie, Demetri, and I, are building the Acropolis. We got a pretty good start on it. We found a piece of foam core from Mrs. Collins which is going to be our base for the structure, we ordered foam off of Amazon, and we also ordered glue and paint and cardboard and popsicle sticks. We are all working on the structure and powerpoint and all giving our share for the paper. We are going to have fun with this.

Today in class, we discussed what will be coming up for our Western Civilization class. In the future, we will be having at least one more quiz, one more test, and a two hundred point project that's going to be due right after the quarter ends. We discussed what our project will be on and how we are going to accomplish our end goal. My group consists of Demetri, Maddie, and me. We are going to build the Acropolis and make greek food. We will spend a day at one of our houses and work on it together. We are going to build a model of the Acropolis out of craft materials and make a powerpoint about it. We feel really confident about it. We are going to focus on the architecture and artistic features of Ancient Greece.

3/13/19
Today while in class, we went over more of the powerpoint on ancient Greece. We discussed more things about politics like requirements to rule, who could rule, who did rule, and how long they ruled for. We talked about how only white men could vote and have a say in the assembly. We also talked about the different rulers and their laws. Draco was a good ruler but had very unnecessarily harsh punishments for little crimes. He also allowed slavery for debts But he also made sure all Athenians were equal. Then came Solon. He outlawed slavery for debts, all Athenians could speak at the assembly and allowed everyone could press charges against wrongdoers. This was a political reform for Greece at the time. Then there was Cleisthenes. But, we are going to go over him on Friday. Mr. Schick is not going to be here tomorrow.

3/11/19
Today in class, we went over more of the powerpoint on ancient Greece. We talked about Homer the Bard, a blind storyteller that composed the stories, or epics The Iliad, and The Oddesey. We went over a little bit of what happens in The Oddesey as well. It is about a man named Odysseus who goes to war in Troy. But on the way back, Poseidon keeps blowing his boat off course. It takes him Ten years because he keeps getting blown to different islands and staying for a good amount of time at each one. he stayed at the island of the Lotus Eaters for a year. While he was out traveling his wife was being bombarded by men that thought Oddyseus was dead. But she knew he was going to come back and turned everyone away. He eventually came back and they lived happily ever after. We also talked about the types of governments used throughout ancient Greece and a couple of important political terms like polis, oligarchy, monarchy, aristocracy, and tyrant. The class was pretty good today.

3/8/19
Today in class, we discussed more on the powerpoint we started yesterday on Ancient Greece. At first, we did a quick recap of what we did yesterday. Then, we talked about the size of Greece and how it could barely overlap three U.S. states but had a huge influence on everyone. We also talked about the dark ages and what happened to cause the dark ages. We also talked about a famous storyteller named Homer. He was a blind man who lived at the end of the dark ages. He lived from 750 - 700 BCE. He composed two of the most famous stories or epics of all time. The Iliad and The Oddesey. These two books/epics weren't written down by him but they were told by him and written down by someone else. I have read those two books and they were very intriguing. After that, we got sidetracked and talked about Mr. Schick's bathroom story and how he flooded the bathroom and climbed out the window to get out of trouble... or at least try to.

3/7/19
Today in class, we discussed a powerpoint that we reviewed today on Ancient Greece. We talked about the surrounding rivers of ancient civilizations, The geography of Greece, the people of Greece, and a little bit of Greek politics. Greece is a very mountainous land with about three-fourths of it being covered in mountains. Only one-fourth of the and is arable. Greece is one large peninsula surrounded by multiple seas. This supports the lifestyle of a Greek. They are big fisherman, shipbuilders, strong navigators, and had a very strong navy. Greece was divided into city-states because of the very mountainous region making it hard to unite them. The citizens of the city-states would refer to themselves as citizens of the city-state instead of as a greek. This is what we covered today in class.

Test Day
Today in class, we took our test on Ancient Egypt. Before the test, we got ten minutes to study with a friend. That really helped a lot. Demetri and I studied together. We asked a good bit of questions to each other on what we learned and what would be on the test. There were some questions on the test we did not cover though. But, I guessed on those questions and still got them right. The test was one page, front, and back and OPEN BLOG!! But don't tell anyone. After the test, we had to take notes on Ancient Greece. We learned all about their civilizations and architectures, language and dialects, and how it came to be. We also talked about the Trojan war and the famous blind storyteller Homer. He told the stories of the epics "The Iliad" and "The Oddesey".
Anyways, this is the third quiz I got a one hundred percent on. I really like Western Civ I guess.

We went over special vocabulary and people and processes of Egypt. We talked about the powerpoint of Egypt for the whole class. The powerpoint was divided into sections. Each of the sections discussed certain topics. We talked tombs and pyramids and a lot of their technological achievements. Some of them were architecture, they discovered the three hundred- sixty-five-day calendar, and mummification. Mummification preserved the body for the afterlife. It made sure they had a great afterlife.
