Today in class, we went over the rest of the power point. We talked about the Peloponnesian war. We talked about both fighting styles of Athens and Sparta. We talked about the phalanx used by both and how Athens had a very strong and powerful navy. They used triremes which were ships with three levels of oars. You could get up to high speeds and ram into enemy ships and severely damage them or even capsize them. Since Greece was surrounded by water this was a big advantage for the ships rolling into Peloponnesus for battle. They could attack while they least expected it.
