2/19/19

Today in class, we had a discussion and practically acted out a situation about six different situations. We had to be the judges on the case and decide what punishment the person doing the crime would receive. We talked about multiple cases and discussed the sentences they would have to serve. Some cases required minimal community service and others required 25-50 years of jail time. After discussing all of the sentences and punishments, we also talked about how Hammurabi would settle the cases. Hamurrabi would settle them in somewhat cruel and unusual ways. Sometimes he would chop ears off, chop hands off, poke eyes out or just straight up kill you. Hammurabi was serious about his laws and the way people acted in his nation. He was strict and sometimes unfair but it kept his nation in order.
